Moved from Scotland to Southern France in '85.
Retired in 2007 joined the Escapees RV club in Texas which allowed us to subscribe to a Private Mail Box address which allowed us to open a USA Bank account.
Went to the '07 Escapade in Goshen Indiana hoping to buy a used RV but that didn't happen.
Found the model we wanted on line and inspected two of them, one in Texas the latter in Louisiana which we purchased; 2001 R-Vision Trail Lite 27' * 8' with slide.....legal in Europe.
We fulltimed in the Americas for 6 years and 60,000 miles visiting the USA, Canada, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and El Salvador.
"DreamHome" was shipped to Liverpool from Baltimore in August '13 MOT'd and subsequently completed UK Registration in September.....we arrived home with it on Armistice Day, 11 11 2013.
Any members in Western Italy, Southern France and or Eastern Spain?

Hello and welcome!
From the amount of places you have travelled, it may be that some of us will be asking you for advice! ;)
Sounds like an interesting assortment of destinations!

Welcome. Lots of members are floating around the warmer parts of Europe at the moment. I am sure somebody will spring up.
As Wandering Star said, you will have to give us all some advice.

Welcome
We are going the otherway, hope to ship to canada/america later part of the year>

May I ask what is the best way to get mobile/data access, have you used the AT & T sims.

Sounds like youve had a great time, what was your favourite parts, where would you avoid if you did it again.

Regards

Hi Pat, Glad to help;....perhaps "someone" can help start a new thread on travel to the America's?
Communications; we used pay as you go phones Net 10, bought from Walmart, then switched to duel sim unlocked Smart Phones, WiFi / Data was handled with free access from many sources; Libraries, Campsites, Fast Food outlets and coffee shops as well as buying pay as you go "dongles"/ USB modems and the like. Depending on how long you're going for you may wish to have a contract and if more than one device have a hotspot gizmo.
Visas; you'll know you'll be allowed to stay in Canada for up to 6 months and in the USA for up to 3 months on the non visa program. After our 2nd trip we applied for and received B2 visas which allowed [funny to use past tense :-(] us to stay for 6 months as is valid for 10 years. Under USA law, you cannot do a visa run into Canada or Mexico and get another 3/6 months.
We liked and would do again; 66, Grand, Zion, Bryce and other Canyons, Monument Valley....Las Vegas, Branson...RV rallies.....Mayan Temples through Mexico and Central America and the SCUBA Diving.
Try to avoid driving through large cities....on our first trip we spent some 6 hours getting out of Chicago.....we didn't have a GPS....big mistake......Happy travels......Jack.

Unless you shipped the exact same size of RV as ours, at the same time [last September] from and to the exact same ports, you cannot get the same price.
You'll get all the up to date info you need for shipping a USA RV from the USA to almost anywhere in the world by contacting www.seabridge.com.
For the "etc" do check with your selection of insurers, MOT folks and the relevant registration authorities [DVLA and HMRC http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/jccc/cips/2013/cip13-20.pdf if in the UK]. Happy shipping.
