Andorra, Barcelona regions

Good day to all you lucky people....we will be joining you 365 as of November 2016.....not long to go !!! Yiiiiippppeeeeeeee :hi:

As a taster...toe in the water...we are planning a 15 day trip this December, with a goal of 7 days in spain, after tottling down through French France.
Probably around the Barcelona region, as time will not be on our side with venturing to deep this trip.

Would love to receive any good wild spots that you folks have visited, as we only plan to use listed sites for a couple of days, for hook up etc.
We have 2 110AMH batterys, and all led lighting, so apart from the invertor for short TV views....can you get Emmerdale on satellite in Spain ??....we are pretty much geared up. Just spent 4 days at Brands hatch off grid with no water or power issues at all.

Also, if you have any hints or tips, do's or dont's that you guys think may be of help, these would also be gratefully received. We look forward to retirement next year, and hopefully meeting some of you on our travels, and becoming part of the 365 crew

As a foot note, we have a 2001 Auto trail Mohican, on a merc sprinter chassis.

all i can say is it will be chilly .
i would honestly say if two weeks is all you have stay around charante maritime or la baule region .
around st nazaire to la rochelle . its a bit warmer there . andorra there are someplaces to park near ski lifts etc but its hard staying for more than one night . barcelona well better off near sitges or villa nova i la geltru.
barcelona is difficult to find nice places .
and might not be that warm either.
places change often up there so what was good one year seems to be hard the next year.
beware the customs either dide of andora are very hard .
i really would stay in france . certainly all of france near the spanish border is freezing in winter .
la baule ,st nazaire ,,pornichet, nantes, point st gildas, pornic, pontchateau . that should be good practice .
but have a good one . drive safe .

Just south of Barcelona might be a little bit warmer, around Tarragona. We went to Barcelona in early January and it wasn't all that cold, but it was wet and I believe it is quite expensive staying there in a motorhome. You're better off staying somewhere else and using public transport to visit the city. Public transport in Spain is cheap and efficient and runs frequently.

South of France is normally nice in December and will have most of the aires operating. However, I might be more inclined to not venture quite so far with the time you have available.

Thanks all for replies received so far, and all taken onboard. maybe re think our plans, but as we have never wintered in Europe..apart from hotels in Portugal...its hard to know what sort of weather to expect anywhere. Not to bothered about the cold to be honest, used to ski many years ago, so know its a different type of cold to the UK, just want to get away from the damp, miserable stuff we get here ....Grrrrr.
But to be honest, anywhere south has got to be better than here in wet kent !.
We have a lot to learn, and will enjoy doing it, no matter how many bottles it takes !
All part of the journey to the dream.

I know what you mean - it's the leaden skies and cold damp that I don't like in the UK winter.
I used to live in Connecticut, and often when -25C outside, it was sunny, blue sky, and warm enough in the sun to dry the roads (but 10' snow either side from ploughing though). I expect a lot of Europe gets this in winter....

We have a list of 365stops on here which may help you on the way . Just plow through the threads there is always something that will help you out and when things turn to worms just put the kettle on have a cuppa and dunk a few ginger biscuits and it will all look better. A decal is below if you so wish to display it just save it open in paint resize and print in good photo quality. Also Uncle Aiki will put your moho on 365 google maps so you can see where others are and move yours round great fun for those cold nights just pm him . Safe and happy travels .

That's very sound advice. We have 2 weeks for this half term and are only travelling as far as Limoges. It's is nice to take the time to enjoy what's on the way as much as the final destination.

Thanks for opinions and advice people.
we realise its a long journey for such a short time available, but to be honest, if we can get 4 nights in spain out of it, thats good enough for us, the pleasure is partly in the journey for us...new experience. also see it as an insight into what we will be doing at a more leisurely pace from next year onwards. Guess everything in life i have learnt, comes mainly comes from jumping in at the deep end...except for swimming that is :(.....60 years young, and still cant even stay afloat !!......its just a me thing, I even prefer to shower than have a bath !!...just to be safe..LOL. Looking forward to our well earned break :thumb:
